Fernández won the Miss Venezuela 2008 title in a pageant held in Caracas, Venezuela on September 10, 2008. She was crowned by the outgoing titleholder, Dayana Mendoza, Miss Venezuela 2007 and Miss Universe 2008. Fernández also won the “Miss Elegance”, “Best Body” and “Best Face”, titles.

Miss Universe 2008 Dayana Mendoza, also from Venezuela, crowned her as Miss Universe 2009 on August 23, 2009, in Nassau, Bahamas. This marks the first time in Miss Universe history the same country won the crown in consecutive years. Her prize package includes cash, a year contract promoting Miss Universe, world travel, a rent-free, prestigious New York City luxury apartment and a gift bag stuffed with designer shoes, dresses and beauty products, a US$100,000 stipend for a two-year course at the New York Film Academy and free access to famous fashion houses and beauty parlors. Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in France on April 15, 1990 in Paris, France. Daughter of Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson - both English lawyers. Emma lived in France until the age of 5, when she moved to Oxford, England with her mother.

At school in Oxford, Emma took the lead role in several plays including "Arthur: The Young Years" and "The Happy Prince". Along with plays, Emma took part in several other school productions including the "Daisy Pratt Poetry Competition", in which she won 1st place for her year at age seven.

Emma's debut in prfessional acting was in 'Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone' (2001), aged 11. Competing against many other girls for the role of Hermione Granger, she didn't expect to get the part.

Away from the cinematic world, Emma enjoys playing hockey most of all and she also likes debating. Although her hair is brown in the movie, she's naturally a blonde. She once dressed up as a witch for Halloween, but she had no idea that years later, she would be playing one in the Harry Potter movie. Her lawyers parents, Jacqueline and Chris, are divorced. Emma lives with her mother and younger brother Alex.
